Public Interest Law Fellowship

Selfless Service
It's who we are. It's what we do.

Meet the President

Kaylie HildalgoKaylie Hidalgo
2022-23 President of the Texas A&M
Public Interest Law Fellowship

It is an incredible honor to serve as the President of the Texas A&M Public Interest Law Fellowship for the 2022-23 year. Despite the difficulties we have faced fundraising in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the wonderful community we have built ensured that we could continue supporting public interest law students in their endeavors. Thanks to the efforts of last year’s fellows and the remarkable generosity of A&M Law students, faculty, and staff, and law firms and bar associations of DFW, we awarded sixteen fellowships to deserving public interest law students.

For future Aggie lawyers hoping to give back to the community, public interest-based internships are valuable learning and mentorship opportunities. However, these organizations rarely have the resources to pay interns. The Law Fellowship fills this need by providing stipends to a select number of deserving law students to cover living costs and ease the burden of working without pay for a summer during law school.

Beyond this act of service during the summer, Law Fellows commit to working throughout the year to raise funds for the following year’s Fellows. This exceptional demonstration of selfless service, leadership, and loyalty in pursuit of excellence makes the fellowship a perfect example of Texas A&M University’s core values.

Our donors make our fellowship and thousands of hours of service possible, and without them, we could not continue our mission. It is incredibly important that we support those pursuing public interest while in law school. The Law Fellowship’s support ensures they feel empowered to continue chasing their dreams of a public service career rather than being discouraged from burdensome costs while in school.

Thank you for reading about the Law Fellowship. We cannot wait for another year of selfless services and fundraising for our public interest law students. We hope you will stay tuned for announcements of fundraising events and give your support by donating, sharing, and participating. Your contribution will help Law Fellows use their skills to increase access to legal services while pursuing their passions.

It is a privilege to be a part of this organization, and with an amazing class of fellows and the support of our extraordinary donors, I am optimistic that we will continue to fulfill the Law Fellowship’s mission.
