For the Residency Externship Program: Semester-in-Practice

Available in either fall or spring semesters, students are permitted to extern with pre-approved government offices, state appellate or federal courts, non-profit organizations or in-house legal departments where they will be engaged in legal and law-related activities. Field supervisors must have at least 3 years’ experience and be licensed with the appropriate jurisdictional authority (or hold a J.D. if in a compliance placement).

[Students engaged in a full-time public policy externship in Washington, D.C. or Austin, Texas, must enroll in the Residency Externship Program in Public Policy.]

The student is responsible for securing a placement.
