The agricultural industry must adapt rapidly to changing industry structure, market demands, and supply shortages. Farmers, as participants in a competitive industry, are constantly pressured to become more efficient. In other words, today’s farmers must produce more with less. One catalyst to spark efficiency is Big Data.

Our symposium will feature experts in big data, agriculture, the nexus between the two, and the corresponding legal challenges. Presentations and panels featuring expert practitioners, professionals, and academics will discuss:

  • An introduction to Big Data;
  • A review of some of Agriculture's most pressing issues;
  • Big Data's role as a tool in Agriculture; and,
  • Legal and policy considerations regarding the implementation of Big Data in Agriculture, such as data privacy and data ownership rights.
Symposium made possible with the generous support of the G. Rollie White Trust
