After navigating the one-of-a-kind Tokyo train station, I arrived at my first day at Kobelco. When I walked into the legal department, many friendly faces greeted me.

Nagano-san, the manager of the legal department, took me around the several other departments within Kobelco’s Tokyo office. Every time I introduced myself to a new department, I was greeted back with a warm reception.

After introductions, I was almost immediately assigned my first task, which I began to work on right away.

After my first workday, the legal department hosted a welcome dinner in my honor. We walked over to a restaurant named “The Olive Tree.”

It was an amazing time getting to know one another. Many members of the team were curious about my favorite Japanese drama and choice in music. They were all surprised to know my favorite Japanese actress was Kuroki Hitomi.

The first day went off without a hitch and the dinner that night was the icing on the cake.
