The next day, the Compliance and Internal Audit Groups presented their groups’ roles and what their day-to-day business looks like. The Compliance Group tasked me with researching on some specifics involving the Export Administration Regulations.
Next, a member of the Legal Group assigned me to analyze, compare and flag any irregular provisions found in a few engagement letters and terms and conditions from different firms in different countries.
I was very pleased to have a full plate of work for the remainder of the week and feel as though I was truly adding value to the team.
Around Wednesday, a few members of the team were kind enough to make plans with me for the weekend.
Friday after work, I accompanied a couple members from my group to grab a bowl of ramen before walking to Tokyo Tower. After a short wait, we rode the elevator to the top floor and the doors opened to an incredible nighttime view of the Tokyo skyline – the vastness of Tokyo began to take shape in my mind.
The next afternoon I joined Fukuda-san and we went by boat on the Sumida River to Asakusa. Once in Asakusa, we rode an elevator to the top of Tokyo Skytree (~350m) for another incredible daytime view of the Tokyo – you could see Mt. Fuji in the background!
We then spent the afternoon in the Asakusa market near the Sensoji Temple. The grandeur of the temple was beyond my expectations.
On the way back to the train station that evening we were blessed with a perfect and even better view of the temple and Sky Tree at night.
