I finally caught my breath from week one and had an exciting week two. On Monday, the Compliance Group made another presentation where they went into more detail on their role in the company. I also received an additional assignment to research and compare various United States’ governing bodies and their Japanese equivalent regarding export control.
On Wednesday, I went over the details for my end-of-the-internship presentation where I will review a list of boilerplate contract clauses to the legal team. I am tasked with explaining each clause’s meaning, necessity, case law/legal rule, and consequence if being neglected from a contract.
Saturday, Fukuda-san and I went to the Tsukiji Fish Market where we spent time enjoying the hustle and bustle atmosphere and taking in all the market’s unique offerings. We then found a restaurant on a side street of the market to enjoy a fresh rice bowl and sushi.
Following our trip to the market, I had my first Onsen experience at the Oedo Onsen Monogatari. I would describe an Onsen as a very nice American spa on steroids – it was extremely relaxing and a perfect change of pace!
