Real Property Law Schmooze

Invitation-Only Faculty Workshop
February 2-4, 2017
Texas A&M University School of Law
Fort Worth, Texas

The initial flagship event of the new Program in Real Estate and Community Development Law at Texas A&M University School of Law, the inaugural Real Property Law Schmooze, will feature approximately 20 legal scholars from law schools in the southern United States. Texas A&M University School of Law faculty affiliated with the Program in Real Estate and Community Development Law will also participate in the Schmooze.

The invitation-only Schmooze faculty workshop will afford property law scholars the opportunity to share unpublished works-in-progress or early-stage ideas with other leading property law scholars at Texas A&M University and beyond. The papers presented will engage a broad range of urban and rural property law challenges including, but not limited to housing law and policy, land tenure, land loss, land use, zoning, the environment, and property law and theory, including papers that address international comparative property issues.

This year's luncheon keynote speaker will be Lee Anne Fennell, Max Pam Professor of Law, Co-director of the Kreisman Initiative on Housing Law and Policy, and Ronald H. Coase Research Scholar at the University of Chicago Law School. She will present her paper “Searching for Fair Housing," at the invitation-only luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.

In future years, the Schmooze will extend invitations to scholars throughout the U.S. and abroad, based upon topics or regions.
