Get to Know Joan Stringfellow

What drew you to law librarianship?

I started working for the law school in 1993 as the receptionist. A few months later I was offered a position in the library. I was hooked! I then began my journey by getting my undergraduate and master’s degrees. I have been a librarian since 2002 and it has been very rewarding. It doesn’t hurt that I have an ongoing interest in all things law!

What do you enjoy most about law librarianship?

I really enjoy being a part of the student’s journey to become successful in law school and then in their careers! I also enjoy that my day is filled with a variety of tasks and every day is different! Especially regarding technology, I am always learning something new.

What are you passionate about outside of the law?

Of course, my family! I also love photography and travel. Luckily, they complement each other. When I can’t travel, I enjoy all different genres of movies.
