On Friday, November 16, 2018, Texas A&M Law’s Dispute Resolution Program held its 2018 annual symposium: Shining a Light on Dispute Resolution: Transparency, Metrics and Empirical Research. Panels focused on:
- Mediation and online dispute resolution (ODR) in the courts
- Plea bargaining
- Diversity/inclusivity among neutrals
The keynote was presented by Thomas Stipanowich, William H. Webster Chair in Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University of School of Law and Dean of the Straus Institute. Dean Stipanowich is in residence at Texas A&M this semester as a Hagler Institute Faculty Fellow.

Schmooze
On Saturday, November 17, 2018, Texas A&M hosted a half-day Regional Dispute Resolution “Schmooze.” This was an opportunity for participants to:
- Present and receive feedback on dispute resolution-related scholarly works-in-progress and
- Provide feedback to the National Center for State Courts and The Pew Charitable Trusts regarding evaluation metrics for court-connected ODR pilots.
The Schmooze was attended by dispute resolution professionals, judges, lawyers, court administrators, academics, policy makers and all of those interested in the need for and challenges of transparency, metrics and empirical research in dispute resolution.

Directions & Map
Driving directions to our campus located at 1515 Commerce Street can be found using the map below. The main entrance to the law school is on Commerce Street, across from the Fort Worth Water Gardens.
Due to limited space, parking will be unavailable in the School of Law’s parking lots on Friday, Nov. 16. Street parking is available, as well as parking in the Convention Center parking garage at 1301 Commerce Street.
Attendees participating in the Saturday Schmooze can utilize the School of Law’s parking lots.
Hotel Information
The
Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel is directly across the street from the law school. Other
downtown Fort Worth hotel options include the
Omni, several Hilton properties (
Hilton,
Hampton Inn & Suites, Embassy, etc.), several
Marriott properties,
Fairfield Inn and Suites, and the
Ashton Hotel. Most are within walking distance of the law school.
Transportation
Airports: Texas A&M University School of Law is located in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, just 30 minutes from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The second largest airport in the United States, DFW has direct flights to over 200 locations around the world and is a hub for American Airlines (AA). The Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL), about 40 minutes from the Law School, is a hub for Southwest Airlines (SWA).
To and From the Airport: The hotel does not offer a shuttle from the airport, but ground transportation options, such as taxi, SuperShuttle, shared ride (Uber, Lyft, etc.) and rental cars, are available.
Rental Cars: The Sheraton Hotel is directly across the street from the Law School. So there is no need for a rental car or other transportation between the Law School and the hotel.
Navigating Downtown Fort Worth
Free Trolley: "
Molly the Trolley" offers free trolley routes throughout downtown Fort Worth to Sundance Square and picks up directly in front of the Sheraton Hotel.
