Texas A&M University School of Law faculty members are asked to speak about topics ​that impact both the global community and your local neighborhood. 

Professor Gabriel Eckstein, Director of the Program in Natural Resources Systems:

• April 23-25:  Professor Eckstein was a panelist for the "Water Policy to Address Change" session at the Two Nations-One Nation Water: US-Mexico Border Water Summit 2019 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Water scarcity, climate change and a growing population are stressing existing freshwater resources on the Mexico-US border. Learn more.


• April 10-11:  Professor Eckstein delivered the keynote presentation at the Binational Summit on Transboundary Groundwater at the US-Mexico Border, organized by the International Boundary and Water Commission, United States and Mexico (IBWC) in El Paso, Texas. This conference represents one of the very first efforts ever to discuss how the U.S. and Mexico should manage groundwater.

Professor Thomas W. Mitchell, Co-director of the Program in Real Estate and Community Development Law:

• March 19:  Professor Mitchell was featured as the national expert ​on partition action abuses in an interview on New York City's Spectrum News NY1 for the investigative news segment "Going, ​Going, ​Gone: New ​Tactic ​​by ​Real ​Estate ​Investors ​Forcing ​​some New Yorkers ​from ​Their ​Home." A week later, Mitchell's Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act (UPHPA) was cited in ​the follow-up segment "After NY1 Investigation, Legislator Proposes Law Limiting 'Partition Actions' Forcing People From Their Homes."


• March 7:  Professor Mitchell was the Spring 2019 Scholar-in-Residence at the U.C. Berkeley School of Law Thelton Henderson Center for Social Justice where he presented the Ruth Chance Lecture on Addressing Property Injustices for Disadvantaged Communities: By All Necessary Means.


• March 4:  Professor Mitchell spoke at the University of San Francisco about the gentrification of San Francisco's iconic Fillmore district, a former center of African American activity, resulting in substantial displacement of many African Americans.
