Approximately 30 law school faculty, staff and friends attended Texas A&M University's Academic Convocation on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at the Memorial Student Center, Bethancourt Ballroom.

The academic convocation is a time to come together as an academic community, recognizing our common purpose, celebrating our accomplishments and honoring our newly tenured and promoted faculty. This year's convocation was led by R. Bowen Loftin, president of the Texas A&M University.

Law school faculty, staff and friends were not only in attendance on Saturday, Aug. 31, for Texas A&M's opening game for the 2013-14 SEC football season, but were also recognized. Before the noon kickoff against Rice University, the law school received the game day academic recognition. Interim Dean Aric Short and Casey Oliver '06, director of marketing and external relations, were called to the middle of Kyle Field for the acknowledgment.

Also on field during the recognition: John Sharp, chancellor of the Texas A&M University System; R. Bowen Loftin, president of Texas A&M University; Huyen Pham, associate dean for faculty research & development and professor of law; Tanya Pierce, associate professor of Law; and Neal Adams, president of Adams, Lynch & Loftin, P.C.

During the presentation, video footage of the law school played for the approximately 75,000 fans in attendance.

After a hard fought battle, Texas A&M won 52-31 over Rice University.
