Following an invitation from the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Center, Mormann joined fellow academics, policymakers, regulators and practitioners to discuss policy changes in the North American energy economy.

Environment, Energy & Natural Resources symposium graphicThe conference featured a wide variety of critical policy developments, including NAFTA's renegotiation, diverging climate policies, and the accelerated deployment of renewables in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Mormann’s presentation, titled "Equity Challenges in the Transition to a Low-Carbon Electricity Sector: A Comparative Perspective,” featured ongoing research that explores the equity impacts of key policies driving renewable energy deployment in North America and the world today.

Drawing on his background as an internationally trained energy lawyer, Mormann analyzes empirical evidence of past policy experiences to distill recommendations for policy design and implementation that can help replicate other jurisdictions’ equity successes (and avoid their failures).
