Stephen Alton led the Borderlands course in Summer 2017. This Special Topics course in international law is a two-part program that examines contemporary legal issues related to the U.S.-Mexico border.
The first part of the program included a two-week course with experiential components presented by Professor
Vanessa Casado Perez held at Texas A&M International University in Laredo exploring a variety of border-related issues, including water, oil & gas, energy and environmental challenges.
The second part of the program included a five-week externship, during which students were placed in private firms, businesses, and governmental and public interest settings around Laredo.
