What tests does Texas A&M Law accept for admission into the J.D. Program?

We accept either the LSAT or the GRE, but not both. If you have a reportable LSAT score within the last five years we will not review any GRE scores.

If you are admitted with a GRE score, and after admission take the LSAT, your application and admission decision will be subject to re-evaluation.

Does Texas A&M Law prefer one test over another?

No. We do not have a preferred exam. However, please note if you have a reportable LSAT score within the last five years we will not review any GRE scores.

What are the medians at Texas A&M Law?

To view current class medians you can refer to our class profile or take a look at our ABA 509 Reports. Please note that it is important to look at the full range of GPA and LSATs (25th – 75th percentiles) as well as how frequently our medians have changed over the past decade.

Our median LSAT score is a 163 which falls within the 80th-85th percentile range. As such, we anticipate that competitive GRE scores will fall in a similar percentile range.

Can I submit my application before I take the LSAT/GRE?

Yes, you can submit your application without an exam. However, your application will remain incomplete until we receive the score.

I already have an LSAT/GRE Score on file, but I am registered for a future test. Can I apply now or do I have to wait until I get my new score?

Yes, you can apply now. If you are registered to take a future exam, your application will be put on hold until we receive the new score. However, if you would like for us to move forward with a current score, please email us at law-admissions@law.tamu.edu and include your name and LSAC number.

How long are my test scores considered valid?

The test administration date must be within five years of the date of matriculation at Texas A&M Law.

Does Texas A&M Law accept the LSAT Flex?

Yes, the LSAT-Flex is accepted and evaluated the same as the traditional LSAT.

How does Texas A&M Law evaluate multiple test scores?

We evaluate applicants based on their highest score. We do not average multiple scores. However, all scores are taken into consideration when reviewing an applicant.

Does the Texas A&M Law offer fee waivers?

Yes, we do offer fee waivers on a case-by-case basis. To be considered, email us at law-admissions@law.tamu.edu.

What are the requirements to establish residency in Texas for law school?

To be considered a Texas resident, you must establish domicile in Texas one year prior to enrolling as a student.

What application documents does Texas A&M Law require?

How do I update my application?

We encourage you to review all application requirements prior to submission in order to minimize a need to update your application. However, if it is necessary to update your application please submit documents along with your LSAC Number to law-admissions@law.tamu.edu.

When does the Texas A&M Law application open?

Our application opens on or around September 1st of each year.

Does Texas A&M Law offer Spring or Summer enrollment for the J.D. Program?

No, Spring or Summer enrollment is not offered for the J.D. Program. Only Fall enrollment is offered.

What is Texas A&M Law’s deadline?

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early in the admissions cycle. While we have a final deadline, applicants should be aware of our priority deadlines that can be found at the top of our J.D. Admission Program page.
