Distance Education Best Practices
Though your course is offered online, plan to commit the same amount of time you would spend on a course offered in a traditional classroom environment
Log in to your course on a daily basis and establish a routine.
Be proactive and plan ahead as much as possible---map out key assignments and due dates as far in advance as possible.
Be an active participant in the online learning process.
Get to know your fellow students! The online learning environment provides ample opportunity for peer to peer discussion.
Determine at the beginning of the semester if your online course has any specific technical requirements and make sure any technical questions are asked and answered prior to course start.
Block off specific time periods to study and complete assignments.
Make sure you have a private space that you can regularly access to study.
Be respectful of your professor and your peers.
Reach out to your professor particularly if you have questions that have gone unanswered or if you feel you are falling behind in the course.
Engage with your peers and take advantage of the vast networking opportunities afforded to you.
Use and apply your learning to your professional life.
