The agricultural industry must adapt rapidly to changing industry structure, market demands, and supply shortages. Farmers, as participants in a competitive industry, are constantly pressured to become more efficient. In other words, today’s farmers must produce more with less. One catalyst to spark efficiency is Big-Data.

 Our symposium will feature experts in big-data, agriculture, the nexus between the two, and the corresponding legal challenges. Accordingly, the Symposium is structured as follows:
  • first, an introduction to Big-Data;
  • second, a review of some of Agriculture's most pressing issues likely to arise in the foreseeable future;
  • third, the role Big-Data can play in solving some of these agricultural issues; and,
  • finally, the legal implications related to Big-Data solutions as well as the policies which would maximize or accelerate Big-Data's positive effect on Agriculture.
