Members of the Section 809 Panel will visit the Dallas-Fort Worth area to discuss its final recommendations to Congress.
Congress chartered the 809 Panel to review and make recommendations for changes to statutes governing Defense acquisition; in the past, such recommendations have resulted in modifications to all federal acquisition legislation. In fact, the panel's interim recommendations have resulted in eleven statutory changes so far.
The panel has completed its report and made a number of significant recommendations for changes. Three of the commissioners have agreed to visit:
- Mr. Dave Drabkin, the chair (and a former Senior Procurement Executive for the General Services Administration;
- Mr. Charlie Williams (a former Director of the Defense Contract Management Agency);
- and Dr. Terry Raney.
The event, which will include presentations and time for Q&As, will be held from 9:30-noon on July 1st at the Texas A&M Law School at 1515 Commerce Street in Fort Worth (right across from the Convention Center and very close to the TexExpress station for downtown Fort Worth). Individuals interested in attending the event can park in the Howdy lot behind the law school.
