"Law and economics" is one of the most significant scholarly innovations in the law of the past 100 years. It has brought the tools and insights of economics (and other social and behavioral sciences) and empirical techniques to the study of law. We'll discuss examples of law and economics in contracts, torts, and other areas of the law and show what is novel about that analysis. We'll also discuss how these insights are shaping legal and public policy debates about important issues that impact the practice of law and the national and international business environments.
