BLSA Mock Trial Team Advances to National Finals

The Texas Wesleyan BLSA mock trial team of 3L Matthew Jackson, 2L Sheena Winkfield, Coach Doug Greene, 3L Elan Longstreet and 3L Marcus Johnson will compete in the national finals in March.

The Texas Wesleyan BLSA mock trial team of 3L Matthew Jackson, 3L Marcus Johnson, 3L Elan Longstreet and 2L Sheena Winkfield were named Regional Champions of the Thurgood Marshall National Mock Trial Competition, Rocky Mountain Regional, held in Dallas Jan. 18 – 21, 2013.

This win advances the team to the national finals in Atlanta in March. Doug Greene, of the Greene Law firm, coached the team.

“This team and their coach worked extremely hard. Even after they had secured a spot to the national finals, they practiced late into the night in hopes of winning the regional title. Their hard work paid off with an unprecedented accomplishment for our school,” Jennifer Ellis ’05, director of advocacy programs, said.

This marks the first mock trial regional championship in the law school’s history. It is the third consecutive year that Texas Wesleyan teams have advanced to the national finals of this competition, but the first to advance into the national finals as the regional champions.
