Why Pro Bono?
Texas A&M University School of Law, in keeping with its mission to provide excellence in legal education, emphasizing service to its diverse student body, the legal profession, and its community, believes the Equal Justice Program will bolster each student’s legal education experience in three significant ways.
- It will ensure that every student will have the opportunity to practice lawyering skills in a real-world setting before they graduate by assisting organizations in representing clients through client interviewing, counseling, and advocacy.
- It will provide students with opportunities to make contacts in the legal community with potential mentors, employers, and others who can help the students plan and advance their legal careers.
- Perhaps most importantly, we hope that the opportunity to provide this public service will instill in each student an appreciation of and commitment to the importance of giving back to the community and improving access to legal services.
