Current Student Transfer Credit Policy

Visits to Another ABA Approved Law School

The law school will accept no more than 30 transfer credit hours. No credit will be given where the grade earned for the course does not meet or exceed the grade point average required to graduate from the visited school. Transfer credit accepted from the visited school will be recorded as a Pass on the law school transcript. Credit will be given for the course but will not be calculated in the grade point average.

Transfer credit will be accepted for courses graded pass/fail at the visited school as long as the course is typically graded pass/fail at that school. These transfer hours will count against the pass/fail credit hour limitation. Transfer credit for courses graded on a letter or numerical scale will not count toward the pass/fail credit hour limitation.

The complete policy can be found in the Law School Programs & Policies [pdf], Academic Standards, section 10.5.

Visits for Summer Abroad Programs

The law school will only accept a total of eight credit hours of transfer work from summer abroad programs. Credits earned in summer abroad programs count toward the total 30 credit hours of transfer credits accepted by the law school. No credit will be given where the grade earned for the course does not meet or exceed the grade point average required to graduate from the visited school. Transfer credit accepted from summer abroad programs will be recorded as a Pass on the law school transcript.

Transfer credits accepted for courses graded pass/fail in a summer program will count toward the law school’s pass/fail credit hour limitation. Transfer credit for courses graded on a letter or numerical scale will not count toward the pass/fail credit hour limitation.

The complete policy can be found in the Law School Programs & Policies [pdf], Academic Standards, section 10.6.
